Applications from vendors & volunteers for the 2014 SolarQ are now being accepted. If you or your organization would like to be a part of this annual event, please contact us and find out how you can best participate. Plans are underway to make the 2014 SolarQ even more exciting! We expect to at least double attendance this year and hope to offer even more entertainment and family fun activities. Donations are greatly appreciated!

The first annual Power From The Sun SolarQ was held on April 21 2013 from 1 – 3pm at Miami Country Day School in front of the Franco Center. The SolarQ (a solar cooked barbeque) was held in honor of Earth Day 2013. Students, parents and friends joined in to both work and attend the event. Over 100 tickets were sold for the event. Attendees sampled the wonderful solar cooked food and were able to see how the solar ovens were used. The menu included baked macaroni & cheese, hot dogs, hamburgers, kabobs, empanadas, baked beans, corn, smores, cookies and chocolate cake. Both the school’s large Villager oven as well as several personal size solar ovens were used to cook the food. A fun and informative day was had by all!
